“‘Sir Gawain and the Green Knight’ was composted in the later fourteenth century.”

That probably explains why the poem survived in only a single manuscript—the one that got away!

Evidently some gardeners thought the Green Knight should “go green.”

I’m glad to see the correct number for the century, though.

What a difference a “t” makes.
